If you have a single monitor on Windows 10 and you want to split the window into two parts then do not worry it is easy. So your wish handling two programs simultaneously can be fulfilled and without dual monitors.

This article will help you know how to split your screen in two parts in windows 10 and use two programs together or simply using two windows for the same program to enable quick copy and paste.

Suppose you have two windows open on your PC but the windows are behind each other. Also, there are two different programs running on each window.

  • Take the cursor right in the center at the topmost section of the window that is open on the screen.
  • Press the left button on your mouse and grab your window
  • While keeping the mouse button pressed drag the window to bring it to the right side of your screen. It automatically resizes and takes the size to right half of the screen.
  • Now you can see the second window at the back of the half window which is at the right.
  • Take the cursor to the center to the topmost section of the open window.
  • While keeping the mouse button pressed drag the window to bring it to the left side of your screen. It automatically resizes and takes the size to left of the screen.
  • Now you can easily copy and paste within two programs.

 

Snap Assist

You can also use Snap Assist to split the screen and here is how you can do it.

  • Snap a particular window to right/left or corner of your screen. You can do it using the mouse or keyboard shortcuts. You will see a thumbnails list that displays all open apps.
  • Click on the app that you want to use and insert in available space.

Snapping available in Windows 10 is a perfect way to utilize your screen efficiently. In order to snap a window you just need to drag title bar to the corner of your screen. Snap is also available with older versions of windows but with Windows 10 you will get improved features. The new feature shows all other open apps as thumbnails in the space available. You can click on the app to allocate the available space.

Well, Snapping becomes easier using touch screen, mouse or trackpad but it can also be done using keyboard shortcuts. For keyboard shortcuts simple press and hold – Windows key and press the arrow keys as required to snap the windows into available space. Snapping certainly increase the efficiency and gives you better control while dealing with two different programs simultaneously.
